Plurality
BEFORE YOU START

What you need

Before

Pick a venue with room for two-person tables and a low hum: a living room, a cafe after hours, a church hall with lamps instead of overheads. Quiet matters more than fancy. Each pair needs to hear only each other.

Invite pairs of every kind and say so in the invite: couples married 30 years, new friends, coworkers, a parent and their grown kid, and brave strangers willing to be matched at the door. Set it up in Plurality and share the link. Use the Needs tab for candles, question cards, and someone on tea duty. Be plain about what it is: not a dating event, unless two people decide otherwise.

During

Seat the pairs. Run the three sets with a stretch break between them; the whole thing takes about 90 minutes, and rushing is the only way to do it wrong.

We’ve added all 36 questions as prompts. You can release them and every participant will receive them as texts or in-app messages, depending on their requirements.

Host lightly. Your job is refills and quiet, not facilitation. The questions do the work, and the room will get noticeably softer somewhere in set two.

Offer the eye contact at the end as a dare, never a requirement: four silent minutes, timed. Catron called it one of the more thrilling and terrifying experiences of her life. Some pairs will laugh the whole way through. That counts.

After

Don't debrief the answers. What was said at the tables stays at the tables; take a group photo instead and invite folks to record any other Moments.

Then hand out the questions to take home, and invite everyone back next month with a different partner. The couples will re-run it at their kitchen tables. The strangers will come back as something else.

Opening Stripe…

Hang tight — don't close this tab.
