Start with one dinner at your home or in a common space, like a church's common room or a community center. Aim for eight to twelve guests at the table with at least three traditions represented, and always cook a vegetarian option so everyone feels welcomed. You can use the RSVP questions in Plurality to check for allergens and other dietary restrictions.

Set up each event in Plurality and invite folks to join directly.

During

After the food is served, use the questions attached in the resource page below. Make individual cards with each of the questions and give one to each guest. We've also made them available as Prompts, which you can release on the Prompts tab. Each guest reads theirs aloud and answers from their own life, and the moderator enforces the two rules gently: stories, not opinions, and no comparing your answer to the last one.

Let the moderator model vulnerability by answering first when the table is shy. And protect the speakers: nobody gets interrupted, nobody gets cross-examined, and pass is always an acceptable answer.

When the cards run out, do nothing. Let folks enjoy the conversation that comes up naturally.

After

Take a photo of the table and invite folks to record any other Moments. Then swap the assignment: invite guests to sign up as next season's hosts.

Houston eventually themed its dinners around one tradition at a time, hosted by families of that faith showing the table their prayer beads and holiday photos.
