On one of the first warm days of spring 2007, Lesley Greene and her husband sat on their front steps in Ithaca, NY, playing ukuleles and singing. “Like you do on that first warm weekend,” Greene says. Her neighbor Gretchen Hildreth stopped, and the two got to talking about how much they love hearing music outdoors, and how many musicians lived right around them. Wouldn't it be great, they mused, if this could be a festival?
