Neighbors bring their broken toasters, lamps, and torn coats. Volunteers who know how to fix things sit down with them and fix them together, free, with coffee.
Community Inspired
In 2009, Martine Postma was a journalist in Amsterdam writing about waste, and the waste kept staring back at her: coffee machines, kettles, and irons on the curb that mostly still worked. That year she covered an art exhibition about repair, and it flipped a switch. “I wanted to do more than just write about it,” she says.
